Sophia, a former director of marketing for Spotify, is currently an angel investor and a co-owner of Cherry Ventures and Atomico.

The newest partner at venture capital firm Atomico, Sophia, was introduced. She has worked as an executive at the London-based company that Niklas, the co-founder of Skype, co-founded, for the past several years, assisting portfolio firms with marketing and hiring strategies.

Since 2011, Bendz has also been a more prominent angel investor in Europe, where she assists Atomico with transaction flow. She has made angel investments in several businesses, such as Tictail, Joint Academy, Engaging Care, Simple Feast, and Sana Labs.

While still employed at Spotify, Bendz began investing and made her initial angel investment in 2012. She did it on Tictail, a social shopping platform created by Carl Waldekranz, a person she had worked closely with on Spotify’s branding. When Shopify finally purchased the firm, her portfolio grew as a result.

She added, “At first, it wasn’t like I had much liquidity,” she explains. I worked on several sweat equity ventures back then, contributing my skills and knowledge.
