In line with this year’s theme, the dresscode for the Met Gala 2023 was “In Honor of Karl”. From that decision, the exclusive guests were able to pay tribute to him in multiple ways.
Of course, that invited celebrities to display all kinds of reinterpretations on the red carpet. Not only from an image that turned the German designer into a character (as did Jared Leto by dressing in a costume Choupettethe famous Lagerfeld kitten), but also in the reuse of garments (such as the case of the 1992 Chanel used by Dua Lipa) and reinterpretations of his legacy.
That was the case of the Kardashian clan: schiaparelli, Mark Jacobs and Jean Paul Gaultier honored the “kaiser of fashion” in their own way by dressing kim kardashian, kendall jenner and Kylie Jenner.
Kim Kardashian by Schiaparelli
kim kardashian chose to call Daniel Roseberry of schiaparelli for her to design a suggestive dress in which pearls –the emblem of Gabrielle Coco Chanel– were the protagonists, covering her bust and cascading down the skirt as well.
A tall and relaxed updo, with two locks falling over her temples, stylized her silhouette even more.

Kendall Jenner by Marc Jacobs
For his part, kendall jenner surprised with a design Mark Jacobs: a sequined leotard, with an important embroidered collar and super floor-length sleeves, which ended in large layers.
She complemented her outfit with platform boots, a natural make-up and a tight ponytail parted in the middle.

Kylie Jenner by Jean Paul Gaultier
Finally, Kylie Jenner chose to wear a sensual design of Jean Paul Gaultier in red and with a super cut, which he combined with some very high stilettos in the same tone that revealed a good part of the instep.

The theme of the MET Gala 2023 exhibition: Karl Lagerfeld, A Line of Beauty
The theme of this exhibition at the MET will go through the work of karl lagerfeld (1933-2019), who was creative director of Chanel. The exhibition, which opens on May 5, will focus on the concepts of the German designer: from his designs in the 50’s to his latest collection, presented in 2019.
Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty is the name of the exhibition that the museum will open to the public on May 5, 2023. There will be more than 150 pieces on display, sketches and documents that record the creative process of one of the creators who most impacted the history of fashion.
The sample includes garments that he created in firms such as Balmain, chloe, fendi, patou, Chanel and its namesake brand (karl lagerfeld).
