Benjamin Vicuna last week he published his most personal book: Blanca, the girl who wanted to fly. Work in which he addresses the death of his eldest daughter, Blanca Vicuña Ardohain, who died on September 8, 2012 due to a bacterium that she contracted on a trip to Mexico. It caused hemorrhagic pneumonia, followed by a stroke.

At the beginning of the book, the actor recounts in great detail one of the hardest moments for him as a father, which was having to be at his daughter’s funeral. It was carried out at the Colegio Sagrados Corazones in Manquehue, Chile. This ceremony was attended by the family’s closest friends and relatives, and the media from both Argentina and the trans-Andean country.

However, no one other than Pampita and Vicuña could describe what that tragic day in their lives was like. “The day of Blanca’s funeral I visited my own death. My own burial. The clear end of an era, of a life. At the mass were my schoolmates and workmates, all the teachers I had, all my friends”began by remembering the artist.

“My son Bautista had fallen asleep in my arms, and with him like this, at the moment of the peace of the mass I began to greet those who were next to me, but I ended up greeting all the people because with each one I had different degrees of closeness. It was very exciting but also very special, because I felt that my son attached to my chest was like a shield that protected me, “he continued.

It is in this part of the story that Benjamín Vicuña wanted to remember the gesture of his son, who at that time was only four years old. “When Blanca had to be left, I didn’t want to leave, I wanted to stay there. Until Bautista, who was already awake told me: Dad let’s go She is no longer here. And pointing to his heart, he added: “It’s in there.”Benjamin recalled how these sweet Christian words that he had learned in his school filled him with peace.

“My son was telling me what he heard every morning at school when they sang to Jesus, and that Jesus is in the heart. But at that moment I felt that God himself was speaking to me. And that helped me to be able to leave”hill.
