Gaston Sessa (50), a former Argentine goalkeeper, opened an exclusive boutique hotel in Chascomús. He did it using the structure of the house that the former Argentine president, Raúl Alfonsín, knew how to live with his family between 1950 and 1976.

The story behind the Boutique Hotel

Three years after hanging up the booties, Gaston “Cat” Sessathe former goalkeeper of Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata (GELP), Vélez, Racing and River, decided to immerse himself in a huge architectural project with his wife, Maria Eugenia Munoz.

To make their dream come true, they bought the former president’s house in 2020 and also the house next door. At that time, the property in which Alfonsín had lived was a “museum hotel.” What was the first requirement that the couple had to agree to? By keeping the façade unchanged, since it is a “building with heritage value”.

Cesar Collacciani, hotel manager, told details in dialogue with La Nación. He said: “The wooden openings, the libraries, some lighting fixtures that are still in the process of restoration and other built-in furniture were rescued, as well as the patio spaces: the pool is located in one.”

After almost three years of extensive renovations, since they were allowed to touch up the interior of the property, the couple decided to open the doors of Laurel House, your boutique hotel. It has thirteen suites that are categorized as “superior” and “luxury”.

The presidential suite was installed in the room that used to be the resting place of Raul Alfonsin. In that sector, personal belongings of the former president are still preserved, such as clothing and old newspaper clippings.

The rest of the rooms were designed by two architects who chose to bet on a more modern and contemporary style without hiding the traces of the past.

One of the great charms of the boutique hotel are its patios. These are ideal for spring-summer days as they have a swimming pool and several outdoor rest areas to enjoy.
